New business models thanks to Industrie 4.0
At the General Assembly on November 11, VDMA plans to provide important guidance in the “Industrie 4.0: New Business Models – Mission Possible!” working group.
The “Industrie 4.0: New Business Models – Mission Possible!” working group will focus on business models based on Industrie 4.0 and provide insights into current practical applications at the upcoming General Assembly in Berlin. Leading industry representatives from Plattform Industrie 4.0 will use the opportunity to provide information on the current state of development.
Participants in the workshop can also contribute their assessment of the topic via two TED surveys and will be able to participate in the general discussion. VDMA Deputy Executive Director Hartmut Rauen will host the morning session and provide information on the various services offered by the Association.
Crucial role for mechanical engineering
In light of digitalization, industrial production is currently undergoing fundamental change – and the German mechanical and plant engineering sector plays a crucial role in this. Within the Industrie 4.0 platform, companies, unions, associations, science and policy-makers are working on the framework conditions that will make Industrie 4.0 a success for German industry. Prof. Dr. Siegfried Russwurm, Member of the Executive Board of Siemens AG and Bernd Leukert, Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, are members of the Management Board of the German federal government's “Plattform Industrie 4.0”.
They will report both on current developments in the joint initiative and on their own companies. Intelligent software and modern control systems are changing the old rules of the game for both companies.
A look at other companies
Digitalization affects the entire economy. Some pioneering mechanical engineering companies have already made great progress. Dr. Werner Struth, Member of the Board of Management at Robert Bosch GmbH, and Johann Soder, Managing Director of SEWEurodrive GmbH & Co KG, will present their companies' strategies in the final session of the workshop.
